My quick trip to NYC with my mom and sister couldn’t have been any more special. When I got the call to do this Mother’s Day photoshoot for Swarovski x Popsugar WITH my mom, I was over the moon. Not often in this business do we get to do go deep into our emotional side and let a family member shine. From the interview that made me sit back and really think about my relationship with my mom and how she has influenced me as a woman, to all the laughter and fun we had in NYC – this was literally an amazing experience for us.
I really can’t remember the last time I took a trip with my mom and my sister. It must have been at a minimum 6 years ago when she used to live in Brazil and I would go visit for weeks at a time. That’s a long time to not have quality time with one of the most important people in my life. When I was presented with this opportunity, not only did the opportunity itself excite me (hello, I love both companies), but the idea of going on a mini trip with my mom did as well.
Once we arrived in NYC we had a few hours to kill before the shoot. so we strolled around Soho, of course! We went to a few stores, but we were really more interested in eating haha. So we went to Balthazar for lunch, which is simply amazing and afterwards we went to Cha Cha Matcha, which we have all been dying to go. Not only do we love a good Matcha, but how cute are the designs!
Cha Cha Matcha has the cutest match designs!!
The shot was so fun! We got all glamed up by such an amazing team. Everyone made us feel so special. It really was such a nice moment to share with my mom.
After the shot we treated ourselves to some amazing Brooklyn ice cream – since we were in a studio in Brooklyn already. So we headed to Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream. I got the coffee flavor which was amazing!! I really wanted to try the vegan flavors…but my nut allergy didn’t allow me. Ugh. My sister and mom were raving about how good they were though! (and yes, I had an outfit change after the shoot….do you guys not know me by now?!) haha
We were so exhausted after being up since 3am that we went back to the hotel and relaxed a bit. We had dinner reservations at ABC Kitchen and we were very much looking forward to those amazing ginger margaritas!! Yum!
We stayed at The Modrian Park Ave., and it was so beautiful!
I’m so thankful everyday for every little accomplishment this blog has brought me, from a lipstick I might in the mail to something like this, I don’t take it for granted! When I started this I had no hopes of anything. I was doing it for fun, as a way to chanel my thoughts, my creativity and ideas. I didn’t think or expect anyone to find interest in my life or my style. I’m so thankful everyday that it has become something I can be proud of – no I’m not huge, or even big – but I’m doing me and it’s paying off. I’ve stayed true to myself, to my thoughts and feelings, to my style and always believed in doing what I thought I should – no matter what others were telling me to do or say in this business. When a company like Popsugar and Swarovski see potential in me and are interested in hiring me for such an amazing opportunity – these little things show me I’m doing something right. It make me feel so grateful and want to work harder then ever!
Thank you to everyone in the Popsugar and Swaroski teams that made this day so special. Thank you for believing in me and seeing potential in my work. I am so honored. – Sascha Bush, Kelsey Quan, Andi Nash, Diggy Lloyd, Kelvin Williams, Emma Sousa, Julia Joseph, Brett Jackson, Pema Dolkar, Katie Van Buskirk, Lily Huber and Allison Chan – THANK YOU!
A very special thank you to my husband, who has been so supportive from day one! He bought me my first camera to start my blog, he watched the kids so I could go to NYC, he watches the kids every time I might have a “can’t miss event”, he takes pictures for me when nobody else can (most of the time with a smile and patience, hehe), reads over contracts, gives me advice in every single aspect of me business. Without him I wouldn’t be where I am. Thank you my love, for being such a rock in my life and for above all, believing in my dreams just as much as I do!
